Named one of the best award programs for independent authors by The Association of Independent Authors!
Why are book awards so important?
Book awards sell books, it's that simple. If you want to sell more books, having an award seal on the front cover gives a book instant credibility and an advantage over other books in the same genre.
"I would encourage every independently published author to enter the Feathered Quill Book Awards Contest. I have noticed that my book sales at book signing events have doubled since winning 2nd place in the Juvenile/Young Adult Fiction/Graphic, Anime Category. That award sticker on the cover draws peopleís attention to your book, and gives it credibility as a book that has been assessed by professionals and found to be worthy of acknowledgement in the very competitive field of writing books. Thank you so much Feathered Quill!" - Cara Skinner, Author of General Houstonís Little Spy. www.caraskinner.tateauthor.com
"The GOLD Award for my debut novel Selah's Sweet Dream, has given me personal confidence. I can point to my book and say assuredly Ė my book is good. The award was validation that encouraged me to believe in myself as an author. A Dutch magazine featured my novel and the GOLD Award was a big reason they considered the book at all. Iím blessed, honored, and grateful for the Feathered Quill Book Awards. When I am promoting my book, people can see immediately it is not just another book, but it is an award-winning book. That helps remove the hesitation a reader might have about the book being worth reading." - Susan Count Hastings, Author of Selah's Sweet Dream, 2016 first place winner in the Best Animal-Children's and YA category. www.susancount.com
What makes the Feathered Quill Book Awards unique?
Now in our seventh year, Feathered Quill Book Reviews has
become one of the preeminent review sites on the internet. We receive submissions every day from
the big New York houses as well as the small, one or two book self-publishers. NY Times bestselling
authors have used review quotes from Feathered Quill on their book covers because they know that
a positive review from our site means a lot in the publishing world. Our award program is quickly
gaining the same reputation.
Unlike some sites, we don't offer 100 categories or more, where pretty much every entry
will win something. A win from Feathered Quill is an accomplishment to be proud of and
promote. It means a lot. We have also kept our nomination fees low. We know budgets
are tight and we want to help. Finally, our judges take the honor of reading/judging books very
seriously - we look forward to having your book join in the process.
Rules of The Program
All books with a 2014 or later copyright date, written in English, are eligible.
Books may be entered into more than one category (see pricing for additional information).
Submission of galleys is acceptable, but we strongly encourage all such entries to include front and back covers, as well as be in final layout form. Since these are aspects that are included in the judging process, to not include them will put your book at a disadvantage. While e-books are eligible, you must submit an 8.5 x 11 printed copy with front cover for judging.
The judging panel is comprised of professionals: authors,
reviewers, editors, and publicists who are active in the literary community. In the extremely competitive book world, the Feathered Quill judges know what makes a TOP-PICK.
Judging criteria include, but are not limited to:
Ability to Engage the Reader
Interior Illustrations, Particularly in the Children's Division
Layout and Design
Editorial Quality (polish, grammar, etc.)
Ability to Fit into the Niche Market the Book is Aimed at

The Write Companion Award for Best Overall TOP PICK - Adult, Children's and Young Adult categories:
Originality is key. Falling into a stereotypical plot or character is difficult for an author. That is
why this award is given to the author that makes that lasting impression. Based on pure originality, this
award seeks the writers who - like Dean Koontz's Odd Thomas or Preston and Childs' inventive detective
Aloysius Pendergast - have created a character who makes that lasting impression on readers. Do I smell sequel?
The winner will receive marketing on all Amy Lignor's websites: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, TWC, Pinterest,
as well as a free consultation regarding their next book project. This comes with a
free edit/polish/notes/suggestions of their next book. If there is not a project as of yet, the consult
will be given to answer any author's questions when it comes to publishing, agencies, independent books,
self-publishing - a conversation regarding the here and now of the industry that may help them in the future. - $250 value
ReaderViews Award for the Readers' Favorite - We will choose from the winners of all categories on the book for this award, based on Reviews Scores, Cover Design, and relevance to readers today.
