Meeow is a kitchen kitty cat. She’s all dressed up in her yellow apron and is sporting a red scarf. It’s cooking time and all her friends have come over to play and help her out. Wolf, Moo, Baa and Quack are raring to go and, of course, have their dandy aprons on too. Meeow starts poking around in the cupboard looking through her pots ‘n pans to get ready to bake a cake. Everyone else has been bitten by the curiosity bug and want to take a look. The pots and pans are stacked this way and that and finding just what Meeow needs will be fun. She scratches her chin, rolls her eyes and puts on her thinking cap.
She starts a little kitty dance and smiles as she pulls out a green colander and a wooden spoon. Woof grabs an orange frying pan and a yellow fork. Cooking can be lots of fun, but you have to pick just the right tools to do the job. Moo has found “three mixing bowls—red, green and purple. Wobble, wobble!” She’s balancing them on her shoulder. Watch out! The cupboard is almost bare as the animals prepare to cook. Baa has some orange lids and silly Quack has a measuring cup on his head and a whisk in his hand. Are they going to do some serious cooking or are they cooking up something altogether different to do?
This is an adorable whimsical kitty cat story that will delight your preschooler. The childlike, vibrant artwork is quite charming and adds a lot to the story. The characters each have a sound alike name and googly eyes that will appeal to small children. Every little one likes to “help” cook and will be excited to see some of their favorite animals fast at work.
Quill says: The cute little twist at the end of the story makes the recipe for this story scrumdiddlyumptious and may become one of those favorite stories that will keep your child turning the pages faster than you can read them!
