Jilted men everywhere, particularly those still licking their wounds, should pick up a copy of How To Marry and Keep A Supermodel the book will show them that they are not alone in their misery.
How To Marry and Keep A Supermodel is a fictional recounting of a very real story. Author Herman Franck details his courting, marriage, and subsequent ups and (mostly) downs of life with a supermodel. While names and events are altered, they are inspired by real events, because, as the author explains, do you think I would have been able to write this book if something like this didnt really happen to me?
The author is an attorney who works on immigration cases and as he points out, many supermodels are immigrants. With his access to extensive databases chock full of immigrant information, he was ahead of the average male in his search for a beautiful woman. But that isnt to say that the author is better looking than the average guy. In fact he points out the fact that regular men actually stand a better chance of nabbing a supermodel. Why? Youll have to read the book for the answer.
Franck chronicles his romancing of Sassafras, a Chinese immigrant he met in Italy. They dated, parted ways, dated (it was a bumpy relationship) and finally married. Once married, Franck is deliriously happy but things begin to go awry when their first child is born and Sassafras is hit with a big dose of postpartum depression. As things deteriorate, Sassafras has an affair with a very attractive movie star. Still in love, Franck tries everything he can to win her back.
Billed as a romance, and written from a mans perspective, this novel is intended for the male reader. Men will empathize with Franck, who repeatedly notes his average looks and laments the trials of competing with a brawny, famous actor. As Franck notes, women go for the man with movie star looks.
The author has an easy-to-read writing style that makes the story flow well and read quickly. He is also quite a poet and includes several of his poems throughout the book to express the love, turmoil and confusion he went through at various points. He is often self-deprecating when describing himself (as mentioned above) and injects a fair amount of humor into his account. if you have a hamburger when you meet one [supermodel], dont be afraid to offer her the entire hamburger. Chances are 99.9 percent she will say no. You will then appear to be a gentleman, and at the same time will be able to eat your entire hamburger. (pg. 28) While there is plenty of humor in this book, How To Marry and Keep A Supermodel is by no means a typical romantic read with a fairy tale ending. Indeed, the finale comes as quite a shocker.
Quill says: While Franck offers tips on how to marry a supermodel, you may have second thoughts after reading his story!
